Sarahbeth,
Stop letting little things define. What you do is not who you are. You are not a Christian because you go to church, you go to church because you are a Christian. You are not a volleyball pl ayer, you are a Christian who plays volleyball. So what, you're not the most popular? You are worth more than all the rubies and all the gold. So you studied really hard and still got a c? So what you pushed yourself. Your grades don't define you, Christ defines you. Your friends don't define you, but your friends do make an impact on you- be careful. Stop letting people walk all over you so that you can belong. Be yourself. Walk in love. Out of all of all of things I have learned in my life, the hardest lessons have been to learn how to identify myself. This letter is a letter to myself expressing the details of what I wish I would have known.

Today is Wednesday and this week has already felt like a whirl wind. From saying goodbye to camp, goodbye to camp friends, goodbye to cross church student ministries and the absolute worst goodbye to my small group. I've also learned I hate packing with a passion. Every piece of clothing I pack steals away a bit of my happiness. This moving away for college thing is becoming too too real. Spending a piece of my day in fayetteville is killing me a bit too. Fayetteville- the beautiful, artistic college town with great coffee shops and boutiques, and also the worlds cutest dogs- I love you. But through this stressful sad week, God has reminded me a big thing I learned at camp this summer, agape. AGAPE is the Greek word for sacrificial love, not spoken in Greek language often but often found in the gospels of the Bible. There are many different types of love in Greek, however, this love is only used in reference of Gods love for us. God loves us so much that he sacrificed everything for us. So when you didn't get invited to that going away party with high school friends, or when you feel overwhelmed about growing up, or when you get a c on your first test, remember to walk in love. To symbolize what I have learned and to keep it near my heart, I did what any person would do and got it tattooed on my body. what a time like this, blessed by these experience and people who have shaped me, exited for the nearing future.
