i know we've all heard the saying: " you are what you eat" which up until recently I had never thought about. So if we truly reap the benefits of what we eat I choose to be a vegetable. Here's why I am choosing the vegetarian lifestyle:
I was bored at home on this fantastic break so I decided to take a break from my usual Netflix binges of law and order, Bones, and Criminal Minds so that I could enlighten myself throughout documentaries. I clicked on the first one I saw. I watched vegucated and saw in depth how 3 people's lives were changed over 6 weeks and I became inspired. I obsessed. I wanted to know everything I could about being vegetarian or vegan or simply just having a plant based diet so I continued to watch documentaries such as Food Matters, Food choices, Cowspiracy, forks over knives, and the real tear- jerker: earthlings. more specifically, I am becoming vegetarian because: 1. I was appalled by the unsanitary and cruel factory conditions for the animals 2. I was even more appalled by how bad animals were treated on these factory farms up until and during their execution 3. Slaughter houses made me cry even more 4. I learned that the number one reason for deforestation was due to the meat industry 5. It is 2016 and we still test on animals 6. Our bodies are not made to eat large portions of meat, and there is a lot lower chance of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes if you partake in a vegetarian diet 7. If eating meat or being a vegetarian is a choice- why wouldn't you choose compassion?? **** disclaimer- these are my personal views and thoughts based off of research I have done. All of my information is from the documentaries listed above and I am not saying that eating meat makes you a bad person, I'm just simply stating my reasons for going vegetarian.
